2015 has brought the world a whole new round of awesome root-only Android apps. Which new 2015 apps are worth a download on your rooted Android device? Let’s find out!
Trickster Mod Kernel Settings doesn’t let you do anything particularly unique. What it does have, however, is a stylish and easy-to-use interface.
Trickster Mod lets you adjust critical kernel settings on your phone. You can overclock your phone’s CPU, for example, without ever buying the SetCPU app. You can also increase your battery life by reducing your voltage.
You can’t do any of those things on a non-rooted smartphone, which makes Trickster Mod a very useful new rooted Android mod indeed.
Smart Booster calls itself a “Free Cleaner” mod. With Smart Booster, you can reduce sluggishness on your phone. If you’ve noticed that your older Android phone restarts when it experiences heavy usage, then Smart Booster may be able to fix it.
Smart Booster works by diving into your phone’s memory usage and identifying apps that are overusing background RAM. Then, it eliminates the background processes of these apps, leaving more RAM for the apps you’re actively using. It should make your device a little faster.
It’s not quite as good as Greenify or Juice Defender, but it’s a good alternative if you don’t like either of those two apps. In any case, all three apps will save you a significant amount of battery life.
Link2SD is one of the most popular root-only Android apps out there today. Link2SD is perfect for Android users with limited internal storage. It lets you move app data onto your SD card.
Many Android phones support SD cards up to 64GB or even 128GB in size. Using an app like Link2SD can clear several GB of data off your main internal storage drive and onto your SD.
Native Android doesn’t support this feature because it could potentially mess up your apps (if you remove the SD card or if gets corrupted). Link2SD restores that functionality: but just be aware, you’ll need to protect your SD card if you want your apps to continue to work perfectly.
There are probably about a billion file explorer apps available for rooted Android. Add another one to the list: Solid Explorer File Manager.
This app, like all the other file manager apps, lets you easily manage your Android files in a way that’s similar to Windows Explorer. It doesn’t have any particularly unique features – but it does have a nice-looking, light-colored interface.
It also lets you connect to your Windows PC and remote servers to drag and drop files around. Typically, you would need to get another app to do this.
