launched in November 2014, the HTC Nexus 9 was a tablet specially designed by HTC to be a part of Google’s Nexus range. In the past HTC has had experience with the tablet market but their products failed spectacularly and received plenty of negative reviews. The Nexus 9 was HTC’s foray into the tablet market for the first time in a long time and they did an excellent job with it. The Nexus 9 by HTC has a 8.9 inch display with a resolution of 1536 x 2048, an 8 megapixel primary camera and a 1.6 megapixel front-facing camera. The camera is probably the lowest point of the Nexus 9 because everything else about it is quite exceptional.

On the inside a Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset can be found. Whilst rarely used elsewhere, the Nvidia mobile chipset range has proved itself well in the past and it’s performance on the Nexus 9 is superb. Extra GPU performance from the Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset allow for smoother frames in mobile games and the CPU runs at 2.3GHz. On the memory side of things, the HTC Nexus 9 Wi-Fi version has 16GB of internal memory and the LTE version has 32GB of internal memory. Unfortunately there is no microSD card slot so storage is a bit on the low side.

If you are a fan of other Android overlays like TouchWiz from Samsung or Sense from HTC, you may be saddened to hear that the Nexus 9 unfortunately uses the stock Android OS, or at least a very near-stock version of it. Because of this, you are limited for features unless you do some tinkering if your own. Whilst there are plenty of apps available to add functionality to your Nexus 9 tablet, the real deal can be found by installing a custom ROM. There are plenty of ROMs available online for the HTC Nexus 9, most of which are great for giving users a new interface, upgraded functionality and more features. To install a custom ROM you must first root your HTC Nexus 9. Rooting can be a scary process but it does include a huge amount of benefits. We’ve done the hard work for you by creating our One Click Root software that can quickly root your HTC Nexus 9 without much input or management from you. Simply follow the four steps we have listed above to get your HTC Nexus 9 rooted so that you can begin your custom ROM journey!
