The HTC One M8 was released as the successor of the original HTC One that launched a year earlier. Whilst the HTC One M8 features a very similar build design, a few changes have been added to make it sleeker and more comfortable in the hand. The biggest changes have been made behind the scenes in the hardware department and to the HTC Sense UI that is used as an overlay on top of the Android operating system. HTC managed to pick up a few awards for the M8 so it’s clear that there was a lot that the device did right in 2014.

Just like the smartphone before it, the HTC One M8 had a 1080 x 1920 resolution display, however this time the display size has been bumped up to 5 inches. The One M8 still uses Ultrapixel technology on it’s camera and as a result it can only shoot in 5 megapixels. At this point the M8 camera is quite a lot worse than other 2014 flagship devices but it still performs fairly well. On the inside, the HTC One M8 is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset which has a 2.3 GHz quad core processor and an Adreno 330 GPU. The RAM included is just 2GB and the battery capacity of the HTC One is 2,600mAh. Whilst the battery cannot be removed, there is a microSD card slot on the HTC One M8 dual SIM and it can be used to add an extra 128GB of storage on top of the 16GB internal memory.

The HTC One M8 also features all of the same Sense features that came with the original HTC One, however improvements have been made across the board. Sense UI on the HTC One M8 is now a lot sleeker and the BlinkFeed app fits into the homescreen better. Underneath the HTC Sense overlay, Android 4.4 KitKat is hiding on the HTC One M8 dual sim. No update has been given to the HTC One M8 dual sim yet so it’s unlikely that the device will receive one at all.
