2013 was a good year for HTC. Whilst the HTC One X was released as the main flagship, HTC had started to work on mid-range and low end smartphones too. The HTC One SV was born in 2013 as the low end smartphone and at the time it was one of the best low end choices available. This was mostly to do with the fact the device shared hardware with some more expensive devices. In fact, the HTC One SV inner hardware was almost identical to the higher priced HTC One VX.

As it stands today, the hardware in the HTC One SV is very outdated. With that being said, there is just enough oomph in the One SV for it to be able to deal with present day Android. Before we take a look at the inner workings of the HTC One SV, let’s take a look at the outside. The device has a much curvier design than the HTC One X flagship and the material to build it is significantly lower quality. This device unfortunately doesn’t feel like it will hold up to too much, but because it can be picked up for so cheap nowadays this shouldn’t be a huge issue. The smartphone from HTC has a small 4.3 inch display with a 480 x 800 – not great, but it still does the job for basic internet browsing, texting and other simple tasks. The poor display should be a reminder that this device cannot do too much other than the previously stated functions because the hardware inside isn’t particularly impressive by today’s standards. The SoC used to run the HTC One SV is the Snapdragon S4 Plus with 1GB of RAM and a dual core 1.2GHz Krait processor. The smartphone also has an Adreno 305 GPU.

You’ll get Ice Cream Sandwich from the HTC One SV by default but there is an upgrade available for Android Jelly Bean. Besides that, the HTC One SV uses an older version of the HTC Sense UI. There’s no BlinkFeed and the UI is a lot worse than newer versions of HTC’s Sense but it does the job for a cheap backup device.
