Nowadays the HTC One SV features outdated hardware and software and whilst it does have enough to get by, it still doesn’t have spectacular performance. On the inside of the HTC One SV, a Snapdragon S4 Plus is powering the innards – whilst the processor is clocked at 1.2GHz, it is only dual core and it can’t compete with most modern day CPUs. 1GB of RAM is also included on the HTC One SV and even though this is more than enough to deal with most tasks, more RAM would allow for a much smoother experience.

Besides the low specs, the HTC One SV also only has 8GB of memory. The memory can be expanded by up to an extra 32GB via microSD card but this jump in storage still isn’t that much. The internal storage of an Android smartphone is incredibly important, especially when the Android 4.0 operating system on the HTC One SV takes up a portion of the original 8GB storage space. If you’re incredibly limited for storage space on the HTC One SV or you’d like to be able to move your apps to the SD card to make room for more content, we’d advise rooting the HTC One SV. When you have rooted the smartphone you will be given the ability to delete unwanted pre-installed applications – you will be able to delete any apps that came with the HTC One SV from restart. To make things better, you can also move the entire data of your installed apps onto a microSD card to create more space. Being able to move apps to the microSD card also gives you more opportunity to install more applications.

Obviously you cannot upgrade the hardware of the HTC One SV, but if you are trying to aim for better performance you may want to install a custom ROM. If you install a popular custom ROM onto the HTC One SV, such as the ViperSV ROM, you will be able to minimize the storage space that the operating system takes up but more importantly you will be able to edit the way your CPU is performing and monitor your CPU and RAM to improve overall performance. The ViperSV ROM also has a very attractive user interface that is packed with more features to make your HTC One SV easier to use. There are plenty of other ROMS to find for the HTc One SV too so if you don’t like the look of ViperSV, you will be able to find a suitable alternative.
