The LG G3 D850 was launched in June 2014 as a flagship smartphone by LG. With a huge 5.5 inch 2K display, the best hardware for 2014 and a powerful 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, the LG G3 was certainly one of the best choices for a new Android smartphone in 2014. Although there are much better choices on the market today, both from LG and other manufacturers, the LG G3 is still very capable as a smartphone and now that it can be picked up for a lot cheaper than it’s original retail price, there’s no reason why the LG G3 can’t be considered a good buy even today.

Some of the reasons why the LG G3 was so popular at the time include the Knock On feature, which allowed users to turn on their smartphone by knocking on the screen whilst on standby. Also the LG G3 had a set of physical buttons placed on the back of the handset which were proven to be a much more ergonomic choice for a large smartphone like the G3. Like mentioned before, the camera on the G3 was great and it could produce some spectacular results, and finally the interior hardware of the LG G3 was decent enough that even today the G3 can deal with everything the Android operating system can throw at it without much issue. For those unaware, the LG G3 has a Snapdragon 801 SoC with a 2.5GHz processor and an Adreno 330 GPU. Up to 3GB of RAM can be found on the G3, so long as you purchase the 32GB internal storage variant, instead of the 16GB variant, otherwise you will end up with 2GB of RAM.

The software on the LG G3 was also considered to be very functional and feature packed, even for an Android smartphone. With a wide range of LG applications and all of Google’s stock Android apps, the LG G3 was one of the most functional smartphones available in 2014. Of course, now that the smartphone has been on the market for a while, there are plenty of better options when it comes to software, but the LG G3 still feels smooth, easy to use and filled with features.

We think LG did a great job with the G3. If you would like to root your LG G3 and you are having trouble with rooting it yourself, follow our step by step guide above and you’ll be able to root your LG G3 without any hassle.
