The Moto G XT1039 was launched in June 2014 and unlike it’s cousin, this version had support for 4G LTE mobile data. Besides the faster mobile data support, Moto G had pretty much all of the same hardware parameters as the other version. To start with, the Moto G XT1039 had a 4.5 inch display that had a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The Moto G also had a 5 megapixel primary camera which admittedly didn’t produce very spectacular results. The innards of the Moto G were surprisingly impressive for a smartphone of it’s price point at the time. On the inside of the Moto G, a Snapdragon 400 did all of the hard work. The Snapdragon 400 SoC was powered by a quad core 1.2GHz processor and an Adreno 305 GPU coupled with 1GB of RAM. Other memory specs for the Moto G included 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot that could support up to 32GB of additional storage. The Moto G also had a 2,070mAh battery capacity, which is more than suffice for a smartphone with a 4.5 inch display.

When it comes to software the Moto G came out of the box with Android 4.4.2 KitKat but later on in it’s life an upgrade to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop was released. We don’t expect this variant of the Moto G to get any further Android upgrades, although the hardware would certainly be capable of handling an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The operating system on the Moto G was mostly the same as the stock Android experience, although a few included apps were available for users but these depended on what network carrier a new Moto G owner purchased the smartphone from.
