The Samsung Galaxy A3 was released as a full metal alternative to the Galaxy range currently available at the time. The A range was the first time Samsung offered aluminium chassis smartphones as opposed to plastic ones and it received a decent reception. The Galaxy A3 is the low end variant of the A range that launched in 2014 and it whilst it doesn’t have the best specs of the year, it still has enough to deal with Android perfectly. Surprisingly despite running the overbloated TouchWiz UX of 2014, the Samsung Galaxy A3 sm-a300fu manages to run the interface smoothly and without fail.
Before we get into the nitty gritty details of the Galaxy A3 specs, it’s important to note that two variants were released. The first variant, A3 sm-a300 has just 1GB of RAM, whilst the variant we are discussing here, the Samsung Galaxy A3 sm-a300fu, has 1.5GB of RAM and from what we’ve seen that extra 500MB of RAM has made all of the difference when it comes to smooth performance.
Besides the RAM, the Samsung Galaxy A3 is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor with a quad core 1.2GHz processor and an Adreno 306 GPU. The A3 also has a 1,900mAh battery capacity and a 8 megapixel camera that can shoot video footage in 1080p. The A3 uses a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, which is considered qHD or one quarter of full HD quality.
The Samsung Galaxy A3 smartphone is of course running the TouchWiz UX of 2014. We weren’t big fans of this OS but it still showed that Samsung were slowly taking things in the right direction. Behind the TouchWiz UX, the A3 comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the KitKat but an upgrade to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is already available.
