The Galaxy S4 launched in 2013 as Samsung’s latest flagship device and unsurprisingly it sold in bucket loads. Whilst i doesn’t quite compare to the Galaxy S6 in terms of performance or even appearance, the Galaxy S4 has aged well and it is still a capable device today. The S4 launched with a TouchWiz version that was filled to the brim with features, some of which were useful, whilst others were a little gimmicky and clunky. The end result was a user experience that was great for the most part, but a bit confusing when inside the overwhelming settings menus.

Whilst the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has the Exynos 5410 octa core processor, the S4 from MetroPCS uses a quad core 1.9GHz setup. Whilst there are slight performance differences between the two chipsets, we’d still consider the quad core option a great all round performer that competes well with other flagships released in the same year. As far as other hardware goes, the MetroPCS Galaxy S4 uses a 2,600mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. A removable back cover is featured on the Galaxy S4 and behind it is a removable battery and a microSD card which can support up to 64GB of additional storage. On the outside the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 5 inch 1080 x 1920 display and a 13 megapixel camera that can capture 1080P video footage. The front facing camera on the S4 has a 2 megapixel sensor. Whilst the resolution of the images produced by the primary camera on the Galaxy S4 is impressive, even by today’s standards, the lens on the S4 camera can’t quite capture enough light to create detail that can rival most of today’s camera offerings. The Galaxy S4 also does not have OIS so stabilization and focusing is far behind most present day smartphone cameras.

On a final note, the Samsung Galaxy S4 MetroPCS edition released with Android Jelly Bean but an upgrade to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop is available for download.
