Before we get into the nitty gritty details, there are a couple of things we’d like to see improved on the Galaxy S6 Edge – firstly, the device does not have a microSD card slot and secondly the battery is a little on the small side at just 2,600mAh. Thankfully the latest Marshmallow 6.0.1 update brings better battery saving control and overall power optimizations but it still would have been nice to see Samsung fit in more juice into their battery. Besides this, everything about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is spot on. Firstly, the device has an incredible 5.1 inch quad HD display. Accompanying the display is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera that can shoot quad HD video footage. On the back, the primary camera can do the same, however it’s 16 megapixel sensor can capture much higher quality images. On the inside, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is being powered by the beastly Exynos 7420 Octa SoC. This bad boy comes with an eight core CPU setup that manages to deal with both high performance tasks and low power or idle mode to save battery life. The Exynos 7420 SoC is paired alongside 3GB of RAM which is a generous amount for multi-tasking and quick switching between open applications. In terms of storage, users will be stuck with 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. Like mentioned before, the Galaxy S6 Edge unfortunately does not have a microSD card.

The Galaxy S6 Edge has an available upgrade to Marshmallow 6.0.1 but out of the box a brand new Galaxy S6 Edge will be running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It’s definitely worth upgrading to Marshmallow before rooting your device because Marshmallow includes a number of important optimizations for performance and battery life.
