Nokia may be getting back in the Android game. According to a rumor from Baidu, the Finnish company is preparing to introduce a new flagship Nokia device to the market in 2018.
That device will feature a Penta-lens camera and a Snapdragon 845 processor. Many believe it will be the much-anticipated Nokia 10.
You may have heard that Nokia was purchased by Microsoft in 2013. That’s sort of true. Microsoft specifically acquired Nokia’s Devices and Services division. Soon after, Microsoft unveiled the Lumia 1020 as its flagship Nokia smartphone, arguably one of the best camera phones at the time (it was the phone with a 41 megapixel camera).
Now, Finnish manufacturer HMD Global is purportedly working on a Nokia flagship for 2018. That phone would be unveiled later this year. It could feature a Penta-lens camera, similar to the camera tech we saw on the Lumia 1020.
HMD Global, by the way, was founded to continue building the Nokia brand. HMD wants to “write the next chapter” for Nokia’s line of smartphones.
Nokia 10 Tech Specs
The camera on the purported “Nokia 10” is called the “Penta-lens” because it features five (!) lenses. The phone’s circular camera will purportedly have seven holes in total, including five for the lenses and two for the LED flash.
The phone is preparing to enter production in spring 2018, with an expected release date later this year.
Could It Be the Nokia 10?
Nokia is expected to reveal the Nokia 9 flagship phone – with the Snapdragon 835 processor – at MWC 2018 in February.
That could mean that the phone we’re talking about today – the one with the Penta-lens camera – could be the Nokia 10.
